2007 VMFP Conference Report

The members present accepted an updated set of bylaws; chief among the changes was the creation of a new Administrative Vice President office which will oversee the day-to-day functions of the organization, and coordinate the work of the National Committees.

Members also elected a new board of Officers and Directors for the coming biennium.  I’m please to note that this new board includes not only returning, rededicated members - but also quite a number of bright new faces, with bright new ideas and enthusiasms, and from varied backgrounds and experiences that will serve our members (and all those we serve) well.

We also now have in place a Chair and a Board Liaison for every National Committee.  We want to thank everyone – new and old – who stepped up to the plate and committed to helping the organization continue to grow in both strength and effectiveness.  We invite you to review the list of new Officers, Directors and Committee Chairs on the Contacts page of our website, and write to any of them with any questions you may have.

This is a membership organization, member-directed through your elected (volunteer) Board, with no paid staff.  We thank our past and president leaders for their tireless efforts on behalf of VMFP, and urge you to “step up to the plate” as well.

And to all of you who, like me, may often feel that you are not capable of ever doing enough to help our veterans and military families:  “There are no small acts.”
