Washington, DC:
Veterans and Military Families for Progress has quickly captured the attention and the respect of the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. In recognition of the group’s outstanding efforts on behalf of veterans and military families, it has been included in the 2007 VA National Directory and website, gaining approval as an officially endorsed resource more quickly than any organization in the publication’s history.
Veterans and Military Families for Progress (VMFP) is a 21st Century veterans and military family organization, founded in 2005, which hit the ground running and became an influential force in the 2006 mid-term elections, working to elect candidates that support its mission and the GI Bill of Rights.
On January 22, 2007, VMFP National President Matt Cary, VMFP National Board Member Ned Jaros and VMFP National Capitol Region (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) President Stefan Stent met with Kevin Secor, Veterans Service Organization Liaison for the U.S. Dept.
of Veterans Affairs. After reviewing VMFP’s mission and objectives and certifying the organization’s Incorporation documents, Mr. Secor approved the inclusion of Veterans and Military Families for Progress into the VSO Directory which will be available to the Congress, the Executive Branch, and the General Public in early March.
“With this inclusion, Veterans and Military Families for Progress is formally recognized by the VA for the work it does as a 21st Century advocacy organization on behalf of active-duty service members, deployed Reserve and Guard personnel, veterans, and military families,” Cary said. “With our successful efforts of ’06 behind us, we are eager to work with federal lawmakers and others to see that our veterans, active-duty, guard, reservists, and military families are wholly supported, as befits our promise to them when they signed up to serve our country.”
