VMFP News

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers

“VMFP is truly grateful for the support it received from IAM” said Matt Cary, President of VMFP and Vietnam-era veteran. “IAM recognizes the value of our mission and the commitment of our membership to addressing the very important question of who will care for our veterans when they come home from war, among other things.”

A non-partisan, not-for-profit national organization formed in 2005, VMFP has members from across the country and across the breadth of the military, and members from every war since Korea.  What sets VMFP apart is its imperative to help frame the debate and craft policy around, and endorse candidates who support veterans and military families.  During the 110th Congress, the organization endorsed a number of bills, seven of which were signed into law. Additionally, the organization endorsed and worked to elect more than two dozen candidates running for Congress in 2008 and looks forward to partnering with them in the 111th Congress to best serve our constituents.

“As a non-profit volunteer-run organization, IAM’s contribution will go a long way toward furthering VMFP’s mission,” Cary said.

The IAM is among the nation’s largest industrial trade unions, representing over 700,000 active and retired members in airline, aerospace, manufacturing, railroad, woodworking and shipbuilding industries. For more information, go to www.goiam.org.
